To Herbert Aaron Sr and Estella Aaron, Hank Aaron was born on February 5, 1934, in Mobile, Alabama, and grew up in Alabama’s town of Toulminville. He belonged to a poor family, his father worked at a shipyard and was a tavern owner. He was one of eight children raised in a segregated environment.
