Shami’s story begins in a village with limited resources, where his father, Tausif Ahmed, recognized the potential in his son’s bowling. At the age of 15, Shami’s talent caught the eye of coach Badruddin Siddiqui, who started training him. Despite facing initial setbacks, including being overlooked for the 2006 UP Under 19 Travels, Shami’s fortunes changed when he joined Kolkata’s Dalhousie Authority Club for a crucial quarter-final league match.

Shami’s First Breakthrough:

Shami’s journey took a significant turn when he impressed Suman Chakraborty of Galoji Club and was recruited by Town Club. This marked the beginning of a series of milestones for Shami, including his first significant contract and a place at Town Club’s coach Das Ji’s house. Shami’s consistent performances in the First Division League for Town Club garnered attention, leading to his inclusion in the Bengal State team.

IPL and Domestic Success:

In 2011, Shami caught the eye of KKR bowling coach Wasim Akram, earning a spot in the team for IPL 2011. Despite limited opportunities in the initial seasons, Shami’s breakthrough came in the Doli Trophy 2011-12, where he played a pivotal role in East Zone’s victory. This success set the stage for Shami’s rise in domestic cricket, leading to his selection in the India A team in 2012.

International Debut and Test Glory:
