She started her career as a gymnast at the age of three. At the age of six, she became the first student of Liang Chow at a gymnast school in West Des Moines. He trained her for almost 2 decades.

She attended Valley High School and balanced her lifestyle by giving 25 hours per week to gymnastic training.
